Meguro gajoen 目黒雅叙園目黒雅叙園 (meguro gajoen) in Tokyo is one of scenes of the highly-acclaimed animation movie ''Spirited Away" by Studio Ghibli. You can stay here (and perhaps meet some spirits =P). This movie has been used in our Advanced Course for teaching.	Kagurazaka 神楽坂 This is one of the many relaxing and historical areas (not just a single spot) in the city of Tokyo, where you just feel like waiting around and having tea with your favourite books.	Big sales in department stores If you would like to buy clothes for summer season, sale in the middle of June would give you more options~
Guest House Shinagawa Shuku Most guesthouse in Tokyo are located in Asakura and Ueno areas. If you need a reasonable and convenient guesthouse , 'Guest House Shinagawa Shuku' is a good option. It is a walking distance from Shinagawa station (good access to JR Yamanote line). And it is near Haneda Airport and Tokyo Station. The guesthouse has a good reputation for its friendly service for backpackers from overseas.	Tokyo Station Hotel Need a luxury hotel near Tokyo Station Then you should stay there~. Yes, it's possible because there is a hotel in the station! Tokyo Station Hotel is considered to be one of best hotels in Tokyo. The price per night starts from $400 but many (rich) people say that it's worth paying for. Staying at Tokyo Station Hotel would be very unique experience.	Rainbow Bridge If you love driving, then consider taking a drive though Rainbow Bridge in Tokyo. If you are lucky, you can see the bridge glowing with rainbow colours ☆☆
Tokyo DisneySea You probably know Disneyland. How about DisneySea? Tokyo DisneySea is made up of seven themed ports of call: Mediterranean Harbor, Mystery Island, Mermaid Lagoon, Arabian Coast, Lost River Delta, Port Discovery and American Waterfront. While suitable for all ages, Tokyo DisneySea is designed for grown-ups. The park addresses the Japanese visitors' strong interest in good food by providing a wider selection of table service restaurant.	Imperial Place in Tokyo Is it possible to enter the Imperial Palace? Yes. However, you need to register online in advance. If you're lucky, you might happen to meet the Emperor. While you're there, it might be fun to imagine his life in modern Tokyo as an Emperor.	Meiji Jingu Gaien In Autumn, you can enjoy not only red leaves but also gold leaves in Tokyo. The street in Meiji Jingu Gaien is covered with ginko tree leaves and it looks like a golden carpet. It'll be very relaxing to sit on a bench, read a book, and drink a hot can of coffee. The colour and smell of ginkgo nut is very memorable. The best time to go is between mid-November to December.
Food: Mouko Tanmen Nakamoto Not only Singaporeans but also Japanese love spicy food. If you like spicy ramen, then please try ramen from Nakamoto, The harmony of super spicy soup and handmade thick noodle is awesome. If you dare, please try 北極ラーメン (North pole ramen), its spiciest ramen.	Food: Sin Tong Kee Love Singapore food? Miss Singapore food even in Japan? So why not try Singapore food restaurant in Tokyo? Sin Tong Kee is started by a Singaporean lady and is considered to be best Singapore food restaurant in Japan.	Food: One-Piece Restaurant If you like anime "One Piece", have you imagined eating a feast by Sanji? You can enjoy real One Piece food as well as atmosphere in Tokyo. Are you craving for the meat that Luffy always eats?
Food: Raw egg in Haneda Airport Many Singaporean like eggs, but most of them probably haven't tried raw egg before. With special soy sauce and rice, you can appreciate how delicious raw egg is. Some restaurants offer special egg to be eaten raw, and one of them is in Haneda airport.	Food: Tokyo Ramen Street Do you know how many ramen stalls there are in Tokyo? It's around 3,800. And you can find ones of best in one place - in Tokyo Station! 六厘舎 (Rokurinsha) is famous for very chewy noodles and mixed soup of pork bone and dried bonito.	Food: Rokurinsha Tsukemen To enjoy quality noodle, tsukemen is a better option than normal ramen. Tsukemen is ramen accompanied by soup for dipping the noodle in. To make good noodle for tsukemen is very difficult, as texture of noodle matters a lot. One of the best tsukemen you can find is by Rokurinsha in Tokyo Station. Here, you can enjoy the taste of wheat! And the soup for dipping the noodle in is very fragrant, thanks to a mixture of dried bonito and pork.
Mount Takao Tokyo may be a big city but there are many mountains near the city. And it's easy to get there as you can go by train without having to transfer from Tokyo. Mount Takao is just 1 hour by train from Shinjuku Station and you will see a view totally different from crowded Tokyo. The mountain is famous for sakura and autumn leaves. Enjoy a fancy day trip.	Food: Abura Soba Have you ever heard of Abura soba (油そば、or oiled ramen noodle)? It's a relatively new-style ramen from Tokyo, which can be very addictive. It's somewhat like Peperoncino. Bubuka in Shinjuku serves very tasty Abura soba. If you're a ramen lover, please try it. You will be able to enjoy the taste of noodle better than usual ramen!	Food: Japanese Soba Noodles Tsuta For the first time, a ramen stall in Tokyo received a star from Michelin. Yes, ramen is as casual as food like wanton mee in Singapore. But creative ramen chef can cook ramen that even make a gourmet smack his lips! The stall is Japanese Soba Noodles Tsuta. Many people queue for 2 hours for Sushidai in Tsukiji Fish Market. Now they need to do so for ramen!
Food: Kyubey Ginza in Tokyo is well know for many authentic sushi restaurants. One of oldest and most popular restaurants is ‘Kyubey’. At Kyubey, you can see the excellent skill of the chef in each piece of sushi.The way the fish is sliced and the sushi is made with marinated rice is something you can't see outside Ginza. I remember that I lost appetite in very humid summer day in Tokyo, but I could enjoy 12 pieces of sushi there. Lunchtime prices start from S$60. Dinner time? Only the rich knows ^^

Kanagawa

Sengokubara Autumn is one of Japan’s easiest seasons to spend time in, due to the mild weather and beautiful scenery. During this season, you don't only see autumn tints but also Japanese pampas grass (silver grass) in a plateau, a sign of autumn. When wind blows, you can hear the sound of the silver grass. Located near Hakone, Sengokubara is good place to enjoy (another) autumn in Japan.	Hokokuji, Kamakura If you would visit Tokyo, do take a trip to nearby Kamakura. It's just one hour by train from Tokyo, but the atmosphere there is totally different from the bustling Tokyo. I recommend Hokokuji, where you can enjoy green tea and nice view of bamboo garden.	Misaki Magura みさきまぐろ Misaki is quite famous for its fishing, landing and dealing of tunas. Different from the Tokyo Tsukiji market, the Misaki market deals with just tuna, and there are many nice tuna restaurants in this small fishing port. If you are a tuna lover, then try to visit there and enjoy marble tuna (fatty tuna) there. It's around 1.5 hours by train from Tokyo, and there is a combo ticket for train, bus and free meal coupon in restaurants.
Fujiko Fujio Museum For many kids born in the 1970s to 1980s, Doraemon (ドラえもん) is probably one of their favourite anime (Japanese animation). Doraemon is by Fujiko Fujio and you can visit the Fujiko Fujio Museum in Kawasaki to relive your childhood days. The manga (Japanese comics) artist drew many manga in Kawasaki , including Doraemon. Advance reservation is required.	Asahi Beer Factory Do you like Asahi beer ? Then consider visiting their brewery and try its fresh beer there! The beer tour is free but you need to make a reservation,	Enoshima This is a small island - smaller than Sentosa.You can't find Starbucks on this island. Instead, what you can see are Japanese shrine, seafood restaurants, and many many cute cats.
Enoshima Have you visited Enoshima, near Kamakura, which is just an hour by train from Tokyo? The small offshore island is filled with many shrines, temples, seafood restaurants and cats. If you are at Tokyo, do consider dropping by Enoshima. PS: This island is also considered to be special place for couples because there is a bell for eternity love <3 And ring a bell on 'couple's hill' for your eternal love.	Turban Shell When turban shell is grilled with shoyu, sake and mirin, there is a very good scent of the sea. Yes, you should try this at a stall near the sea. The shell is very chewy and a bit sweet. Enoshima is famous for this food and the best season to try it is from Feb to May.	Whitebait of sardines しらす In a bowl of whitebait of sardines, usually there are dried and fresh sardines, or shirasu (しらす). In some area like Kamakura and Kanagawa, you can try just fresh whitebait of sardine! Put a spoonful of shirasu in your mouth and you can feel the sea in it.

Ibaraki:Ankou nabe (Angler fish pot) Ankou is deep sea fish and looks very unique. The taste of this fish is also very unique in good way. Liver of this fish tastes like foie gras, while its skin is very chewy as it contains lots of collagen. It's best when eaten with miso soup.

Gunma: Kusatsu Onsen If you are travelling Tokyo, you may want to consider going to Kusatsu for onsen. It is 1.5hours away by train. Kusatsu onsen is one of best onsens in Japan. In winter, it snows heavily there and you can see it happening in the onsen. This will certainly be a memorable experience.
